What a fence costs in Frisco
Per-foot prices by material, the extras that add up, and a worked example.
There's no Frisco-only price list, so here are two national cost guides. Use them to sanity-check quotes, not to predict one.
| Material | Per linear foot |
|---|---|
| Wood | $20 to $50 |
| Privacy fence (wood or vinyl) | $25 to $60 |
| Vinyl | $30 to $60 |
| Chain-link | $9 to $30 |
| Aluminum | $25 to $75 |
| Wrought iron | $50 to $85 |
| Composite | $20 to $85 |
The whole project
- HomeAdvisor (June 2026): national average $3,277, typical range $1,860 to $4,843, about $23 per linear foot on average.
- HomeGuide (February 2026): new fences average $4,000 to $12,000, or $20 to $60 per linear foot for wood or vinyl.
Extras that add up
| Item | HomeAdvisor | HomeGuide |
|---|---|---|
| Gates | Basic side gates from $150; $400 to $1,200 for premium materials | — |
| Old fence removal | $3 to $5 per linear foot | $10 to $20 per linear foot |
| Stain or paint | $3.50 to $13 per linear foot | $2 to $14 per linear foot |
| Permit | — | $40 to $150 (Frisco lists $75) |
The guides disagree on removal by a wide margin. Ask whether hauling away the old fence is in the quote.
Worked example: 150 feet of wood privacy fence
At HomeGuide's $25 to $60 per foot for a privacy fence, 150 feet comes to $3,750 to $9,000. Add removal of an old fence (between $450 and $3,000 for 150 feet across the two guides' ranges), a gate or two, optional stain, and Frisco's $75 permit. This is our arithmetic on published ranges, not a quote.
What moves your number

- Length and height (an 8-foot fence uses more material than a 6-foot one)
- Material and style: board-on-board uses more boards than side-by-side
- Post type, such as steel vs. wood, and how they're set
- Gates, especially wide drive gates
- Removing the old fence, slopes, and access to the yard
